Sensor Development Kit for IoT , RSL10 sensor

 Postscape estimates that by the end of this year, 2020, approximately 50 billion devices will be connected to the internet. A huge percentage of these devices are short-range wireless systems that use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to connect to the internet. This is evidence enough that IoT is taking the world by storm. Engineers are constantly trying ways of incorporating IoT into various aspects of our lives from production to agriculture. As such, Development kits for IoT come in handy in the sense they make prototyping faster and easier. Sensor development kit for IoT, therefore, comes in handy when developing IoT systems.

BLE based sensor development KIT for IoT

The RSL10 Sensor Development Kit by ON Semiconductor is one such kind. It offers engineers a comprehensive platform for developing IoT applications that embody cutting-edge smart sensor technology. Most notably it uses Bluetooth Low Energy radio. Using this platform can be used to develop industrial wearables, smart monitoring, and asset monitoring. Using the RSL10 sensor development kit you can also come up with medical, home automation, gaming, smart city, and consumer electronics applications.

RSL10 sensor development kit architecture

This sensor development kit combines highly integrated RSL 10 SIP alongside a variety of low power sensors from Bosch Sensortec. The sensors include environmental, inertial, geomagnetic, and ambient light sensors. As a result, the platform offers 9 degrees-of-freedom detection and environmental monitoring (Volatile Organic Compound, temperature, pressure, ambient light, and relative humidity.) The RSL10 sensor development kit also incorporates pushbuttons, a programmable RGB LED, a microphone, and a 64Kbit of EEPROM.

Types

There two variants of the RSL10 Sensor development kit for IoT;

  • Base version (RSL 10-SENSE-GEVK)
  • Debug version (RSL10- SENSE-DB-GEVK)

The debug version has a populated 10-pin debug header alongside a Segger J-Link LITE Cortes debugger. The debugger connects to this header comes alongside the development kit. The user will require a TC2050 connector on the base variant for debugging.

Features of the RSL10

  • Based on RSL10 SIP
  • Bluetooth 5 certified
  • Certified to international wireless regulations including CE, IC, KC, MIC, and FCC
  • Embodies NOA1305 for ambient light
  • BH160- Integrated low-power smart hub, 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope
